SPIDER-MAN star Tom Holland has apologised after "causing traffic" in Glasgow.

The 30-year-old filmed part of the fourth instalment of the franchise, Brand New Day, in the city last year, leaving Scottish fans ecstatic.

Holland, who has played the character since 2016, reflected on his experience in Glasgow during a recent appearance on the Dish podcast, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett.

Hartnett told the Marvel star she had been in Glasgow during the shoot, which caused a traffic jam as crowds gathered to watch the actor in action.

She joked: "Neil's [Hartnett's husband's] dad was there, and he's like, 'You've got to go this way and that... that Spiderman is filming.'

"And we're like, oh, that bloody Tom Holland."

Holland replied with an apology as the trio burst into laughter.

He said: "I love the idea of someone sat in traffic and seeing Spiderman swinging past."

Holland was seen last August shooting an action sequence in costume before speaking to a crowd of about 100 people.

The film was one in a long line of Hollywood blockbusters to be filmed in the city in recent years.

Twisters star Glen Powell has made two films - a remake of 1980s sci-fi thriller The Running Man as well as JJ Abrams' Ghostwriter - in Glasgow in the past two years

Glasgow has also stood in for New York and its fictional counterpart Gotham City in Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny, The Flash and The Batman.
