The SPFL have announced they will move the date of the Premiership playoff final to accommodate Inverness - if they also reach the Scottish Cup final.
The Championship side could potentially make the finals of both the Scottish Cup and the playoffs in what promises to be an exciting end to the season under Billy Dodds and they'll face Falkirk at Hampden in the semi-finals, guaranteeing one lower league team will face off with Celtic or Rangers in the final. The showpiece is due to take place at the later-than-usual date of June 3, and that presents no potential clashes for three of the four semi-finalists.
The Premiership season concludes on the weekend of May 18/19 while Falkirk, currently in League One and bound for the playoffs, have learned that should they make the final, it will take place on Saturday May 20 live on BBC Alba. Inverness, though, could still make the Championship playoffs and that created the potential for a clash.
The Premiership playoff final second leg is pencilled in for Sunday June 4 - the day after the Scottish Cup grand finale. The SPFL announced the playoff dates in full but have added a caveat which reads: "In the event Inverness Caledonian Thistle reach both the Scottish Cup final and the cinch Premiership play-off final, the play-off final ties will take place on Tuesday June 6 and Friday June 9."
It means Inverness could play the Scottish Cup final and both legs of their playoff in the same week should they go all the way in both competitions. But if they fail to make both finals, the Premiership playoffs will go ahead as follows.
