SPFL start disciplinary proceedings against East Fife over Clyde postponement

The SPFL have announced that disciplinary proceedings have started against East Fife for failing to fulfil their game against Clyde last night.

Last night's League One fixture was postponed after East Fife refused to play after a Clyde player recorded a positive Covid-test.

The news that a player had recorded a positive test only reached Clyde officials 30 minutes before kick-off and the club contacted the SFA's Joint Response Group (JRG).

Clyde insisted in a statement last night that the JRG confirmed that the game could be played but East Fife refused.

Although East Fife players didn't want to play due to safety concerns - several players have pregnant partners - manager Darren Young earlier refuted suggestions made in Clyde's statement.

The case will now be heard before a Sub-Committee of the Board of the SPFL tomorrow.

An SPFL statement read: "Following the call-off of the SPFL League 1 fixture between Clyde and East Fife last night, the SPFL has today (28 April) announced that disciplinary proceedings have commenced against East Fife for failing to fulfil the fixture.

The disciplinary hearing will be held before a Sub-Committee of the Board of the SPFL on Thursday 29 April.
