VISAKHAPATNAM: The Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited (EPDCL) CMD Prudhvi Tej said that they have been restoring the power in various places on a war footing basis. Special teams were deployed to cyclone hit Nellore district.
Five special teams with 60 members from Eluru Circle along with the required material were sent to Nellore in AP SPDCL limits for restoration of power.
So far, power disruption identified in 40,080 services in 153 villages and Rajahmundry town in Rajahmundry circle. All five circles in EPDCL witnessed losses, including the major loss in the Rajahmundry circle.
The CMD said that they have already placed electrical poles, transformers, and necessary equipment along with special teams. Restoration of power in Eluru and Rajahmundry circles by supervising EPDCL Director (operations) B Ramesh Prasad and Director (Projects) AVV Surya Pratap. The teams have been attending to the restoration works of uprooted electrical polls and lines, besides transformers due to heavy rains.
He said that all 10 damaged 33/11 KV substations were restored, 33 KV feeders 37, 11KV feeders 143, 33 KV Polls4, 11 KV Polls 123, LT polls, distribution transformers 100, 11 kV lines 8.84 kilometers, LT lines 8.72 kilometers, service connections 30080, agricultural connections 376, and others were damaged. The CMD said that 95% of the restoration has taken place with 256 teams.
He urged the public to inform the EPDCL about the uprooted electrical polls or damaged transformers and lines through the 1912 Toll-Free number and the public should take precautions.
