Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has provided an explanation after an article prompted speculation over the possibility of Luka Modric joining Rangers.
The rumour mill over a sensational move to Rangers for the Real Madrid icon went into overdrive after Balague revealed discussions between the midfielder and new Rangers manager candidate Davide Ancelotti.
In his BBC Sport article, Balague wrote: "And the players know it, including Modric. When asked whether he'd fancy coming to Rangers, he didn't say no."

The respected journalist also stated, "other players have also asked Ancelotti to take them to Scotland".
However, Balague has now stated on social media that Modric is not going to join Rangers as he clarified his article. The 39-year-old is a free agent after his contract at Real Madrid came to an end.
The journalist has emphasised that Modric has not committed to a move to Rangers, but again suggested he "did not say no, or yes".
Rather, Balague, has explained he used Modric as an example of the calibre of player who trust Ancelotti and the coach has access to speaking with due to his standing in the game.
