People hoping to jet off on holiday this summer could be left disappointed as Spain, Greece and France are unlikely to make it onto the green list when it is reviewed.
The popular tourist destinations look likely to remain on the amber list when the 'green list' is reviewed in three weeks time.
Instead The British Virgin Islands and a raft of Caribbean countries are likely to be added to the currently small list of just 12 countries.
Countries on the green list have been designated as destinations where holiday makers won't need to quarantine after returning to the UK.
However this is not the case for amber list countries which would require self-isolation upon return.
In a press conference on Monday Boris Johnson unveiled the next phase of England's lockdown roadmap - reports Mirror Online.
Among the various changes he confirmed was that rules on foreign travel would revert to a traffic light system from May 17.
Travel will operate under the system with countries placed on green, amber or red lists that determine the level of quarantine and PCR test requirements when you're back in the UK.
Just 12 countries were placed on the green list when it was unveiled by Grant Shapps on Friday but it is set to be reviewed every three weeks.
According to the Daily Telegraph, tourists looking for holidays to popular hotspots in Spain, Italy and Greece next month could be out of luck.
The paper reports that the countries that could be added to the green list next month are those that were “near-misses” from the initial list.
These include remote islands such as Fiji, the Cayman Islands, Grenada, as well as Finland and Malta, where infection and variant rates were low enough to put them on the shortlist.
The new green list is expected to be decided in the week leading up to June 7, when the second batch of green holiday destinations will be revealed.
The paper reports that Spain, Greece, Italy and France are all unlikely to feature.
A third updated list is likely to be revealed in time for a review of the Government’s foreign travel policy on June 28.

Currently, non-essential foreign travel is legally banned but this is due to be lifted from May 17, allowing for holidays abroad once again.
Regardless of the destination, anyone returning from abroad will be required to take a pre-departure test and undertake PCR testing when back.
Countries and territories will be placed on green, amber or red lists, each of which have their own unique requirements around testing and quarantine.
There will initially be 12 on the green list - Portugal including the Azores and Madeira; Australia; New Zealand; Singapore; Brunei; Iceland; Faroe Islands; Gibraltar; Falkland Islands; and Israel.
