Spain have warmed up for their Cup of Nations meeting with the Matildas with a comprehensive 3-0 defeat of Jamaica in Gosford.

Sunday's encounter between Australia and world No.7 Spain looms as the headline fixture in the tournament and La Roja got into the swing of things in sapping conditions at Industree Group Stadium.

Spain were in control from start to finish against the the Reggae Girlz and midfielder Maite Oroz, who opened the scoring in the 18th minute, said her side were willing to embrace the challenge of facing an Australia side at home.

"We finish with good feelings because we scored three goals," Oroz told AAP through an interpreter.

"Australia are going to be a tough opponent, they're the home team and we will try to do our best.

"We are capable of winning against every team, we know the crowd (will be against us), but we hope to see a lot of fans at the stadium."

Oroz's opener came after a deflection bounced off the crossbar and into her path, with Esther Gonzalez joining her on the scoresheet just before half-time.

Spanish head coach Jorge Vilda took many of his starters off with the result wrapped up, but substitute Fiamma Benitez was able to score to third goal with a well-taken effort from outside the box.

Sunday's meeting at Sydney's CommBank Stadium will be the first time since June last year that Spain and Australia have met.

An understrength Matildas side were pumped 7-0 that day but the make-up of Vilda's side has changed drastically with a cohort of 15 players boycotting the national team set-up.
