'Spacious' flat that does not have any room to sit goes up for rent at £600 a month

A one-bed studio has hit the market in London for £600 a month - but it has one massive drawback, as there's nowhere for anyone to sit.

Ambitious estate agents describe the pad as "spacious" even though there's not even enough room for a sofa.

The property, near trendy Marble Arch, is so small that the bed has been fitted on a wooden frame close to the ceiling.

To access it, you will need to climb a ladder - and sleepers won't be able to have much of a stretch after waking up each morning.

But despite its restrictions, the apartment isn't expected to be available for long.

Because of the fantastic location, demand is high - even if there's no space to swing a cat.

You can forget about having friends over to watch a film or the football unless you want to squeeze in, or sit on the floor.

There is some good news, you won't have far to go if you fancy a midnight snack.

The mini kitchen is right by the bed and you can take your cuppa back up the ladder seeing as there's nowhere to sit and enjoy it - if you can drink lying down.

You may struggle to cook, though.

There doesn't appear to be an oven included, but photos show a microwave on top of the units in the small kitchen space.

It's not the only tiny property the capital has to offer, of course.

A 'bijoux' flat the size of an average garden shed has just been sold for an eye-watering £325,000.

One of Britain's smallest apartments measures only 16ft by 8ft - but that didn't stop it being snapped up.

The Knightsbridge pad is just a stone's throw from Harrod's and Harvey Nichols as well as many of London's most trendy bars and restaurants.

The incredible price tag makes it one of the priciest ever sold in the capital at a staggering £2,539 per sq ft.

The 'micro-penthouse' was so small that Portuguese firm of space-saving architects was brought in by its last owner to maximise the amount of liveable floor area.

Nina Harrison, London Specialist at property advisors Haringtons, said the flat was one of the priciest she had seen per sq ft.

She added: "Tiny flats are few and far between in prime Central London, so there is often a premium.

"A tiny flat would be ideal for a staff member who needs to be on call all the time for families that have a large apartment in the same building.

"It would also be a very convenient place to store luggage and shopping while on a flying visit to Harrods or London Fashion Week."
