A second-half strike from Bruno Fernandes was enough to give Manchester United a 1-0 win at Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, ending their run of seven straight away defeats. It means manager Erik ten Hag has earned back-to-back victories as the club climb to sixth ahead of the 3pm kick-offs.
The first half was lacking in chances, beyond a goalmouth scramble which Southampton somehow survived. United finally found the opener through Bruno Fernandes, who fired a low, right-footed shot past Gavin Bazunu from the centre of the penalty area.
New United signing Casemiro started on the bench but was given 10 minutes for his debut to help his new team see out the result. Cristiano Ronaldo also came on late, but had little impact.
