UNLV gets its biggest pickup of the year in Jenkins

South Dakota State transfer David Jenkins Jr. committed to UNLV on Saturday, according to his Twitter page.

Jenkins picked UNLV over Gonzaga and Oregon after announcing his intentions of transferring out of South Dakota State earlier this spring.

The Tacoma, Washington, native spent his first two seasons with the Jackrabbits under current UNLV head coach T.J. Otzelberger. Over 67 total appearances, Jenkins started 53 times while averaging 17.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 42.0 percent from three-point range.

The 6-2, 200-pound guard will now follow his familiar head coach to Sin City in hopes of propelling the Rebels back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, Jenkins will be forced to redshirt during the 2019-20 season. He will then be eligible for the following two seasons with UNLV.
