Sounds Jewish: October 2008

I'm joined in the studio this month by Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland and the director of communications for the Community Security Trust, Mark Gardner.

With the US election in its final, nail-biting month, we take a look at the Jewish vote and how it could make a difference on November 4 - especially in the swing state of Florida. We hear from American comedy genius Sarah Silverman fronting a new campaign, The Great Schlep, which aims to tell Jewish grandmas in Florida to get off the sunlounger and vote for Obama.

Co-founder of The Great Schlep and Jewsvote.org, Ari Wallach, tells us why his task is busting a whole string of internet-fuelled myths about the Democratic candidate.

Plus, the changing face of antisemitism in Britain: has the internet made it different- and worse?

And finally, Tanya Gold writes a love letter to Art Garfunkel and his Jew-fro.

PS Don't forget to look out for the JCC's US elections debate, weighing up which candidate - Obama or McCain - would be best for Jews, in the Middle East and beyond. Jonathan Freedland will be debating with the Daily Mail's Melanie Phillips at the Hampstead Town Hall on 12 October.

Sounds Jewish is produced with the Jewish Community Centre for London.
