*Spoilers Ahead*
I liked the characters. They were interesting. They had a lot of backstory.
I really liked Alina. She was interesting. Not only did she have to break free of June's image, she had to make her own image. She was weak at first. I didn't particularly like her. She had stifled the things that made June great but also stifled some of her potential. She had a backstory. It was really interesting. She had to break out of her shell. She had been cooped up. She needed to become someone else to get used to being in the real world. She had been sheltered. She needed to become brave. Her bravery and backstory were the things that made me like her.
I didn't particularly enjoy Cameron. He had a fantastic backstory, though. Criminal record? Ah, amazing. I liked that. He had a bad past. He had to break free of it. And how Alina reacted. She didn't get all crazy on him. She accepted it. But Cameron… too perfect. He knows all the ways to commit crimes. Shoot the window with the last bullet. Hide from the cameras by not going in the halls. He only committed grand theft auto, guys. How did he learn these other things? I don't know. I don't know.
Casey. Man. I liked Casey. She was pretty cool. She's also very protective. She becomes the sister Cameron needs. Casey's cool. Casey is also a hacker. Hacker. Awesome, right? She's really cool. If she was just a bit...less protective, it would be better. It would have been better if she was more relaxed. I understand why she was protective. I do. But she was too protective.
The story ended on a high note. I liked that. She was going to her mother. She was with Cameron. Things were right. Things were going in the right direction. She was going to get her happy ending. It's nice how it ended. But there were problems.
I won't say I liked how there were things missing. What happened to Dominick? Will she find her mother? What about Casey? You're left with questions. You don't get anything. No epilogue. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. I wanted more. I wanted to have these questions answered. Maybe in a short story. But no sequel.
I didn't like the plot. It was kinda dull. It was slow moving. I didn't enjoy the lack of action. It didn't catch my attention. The story revolved around following June's clues. It's more suspense. It's not really action. Which isn't something I enjoyed.
There were some action scenes. Those weren't too bad. They were more suspenseful than anything else. The clues were kinda interesting. Not exactly. Kinda. Sorta. I would have preferred more hand-to-hand. Maybe Dominick fighting Mr. Amazing (aka Cameron). Ooh. That would have been good.
Or the romance. I didn't like how she just fell for him. It felt like it was fake. It felt like she fell for him because he was the only guy she saw since Dominick. I didn't believe their relationship. They barely met before they kissed. They barely talked. He saw your stomach. You saw him while you showered. Why? Where is the spark? Cameron didn't seem too into Alina anyways. Alina seemed too into him if you ask me. I simply didn't like this book's romance.
There's a question that comes to mind. Is there a soul? It's a great question. There are experiments that try to prove the existence of a soul. I'm not sure if they exist. I'm not sure at all. I'm not sure about it. Do you believe in a soul?
