Al Murray the Pub Landlord tonight writes for the Mirror on how tomorrow's budget is different for Britain's pubs, with the great British boozer on the line like never before.
In the old days the Budget bothered most people on one matter, mainly.
After all, we look at the Budget and say: how does this affect me?
And the thing that was used as a barometer was how much the price of a pint went up.
This Budget is different, because if Rishi Sunak gets this wrong, there might not be any pints full-stop.
Because pubs are on the line, right now.

They were among the first to close, they endured the on-off Scotch Egg farce last year, not knowing whether they were coming or going, and now that we are told there is light at the end of the tunnel, what pubs need to know is that the light isn’t just another train.
They were closed through no fault of their own – apart from being somewhere fun to visit, convivial, community places, if you can call that a fault.
What they now need is a serious helping hand from the Chancellor.

Because if he doesn’t, and pubs go under, he won’t be able to pose in a pub, pouring a pint, trying to convince everyone he’s just like you and me.
