Solskjaer explains Fred and Sergio Romero selections for Manchester United vs Copenhagen

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has picked players who have performed well in training and in Manchester United's most recent game, he confirmed ahead of tonight's quarter-final clash.

United take on Copenhagen in Cologne looking to book their spot in the Europa League semi-final, where they could face either Sevilla or Wolves.

The Norwegian has picked a strong side for the game, with Fred, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire, Sergio Romero and Brandon Williams the players retained from the victory over LASK last week.

Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba also start, after they were named among the substitutes against LASK.

"Well, whatever 11 I picked I feel it would have been a strong 11," Solskjaer told MUTV. "Some players didn't play on Wednesday, of course it's a few weeks since we played against Leicester. We need to be ready and we need to be sharp. Players have trained well so it was time to put some of them back in.

"Of course Fred, Sergio, Brandon, Harry and Eric played the other game as well and I thought they did well, so hopefully we can have a good performance."

Solskjaer was also asked about the unique circumstances surrounding the game, which is being played at a neutral venue in Cologne over 90 minutes instead of the two legged ties that are usually customary in the Europa League.

He added: "It's different, it is a bit surreal anyway football at the moment. So we know if we're going to go through in a one-off game, it's the same for everyone, 90 minutes plus extra time if we need to.

"Having played at Old Trafford against them of course would have been an advantage."
