Snow forecasted for Sunday night’s showdown in Green Bay

Sunday night’s showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans will likely be impacted by wintery weather, including snow.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the current forecast for Lambeau Field includes snowfall, temps dipping below 20 degrees and wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour. The area is in a Winter Weather Advisory until later Sunday night.

Snow accumulation is expected to be between 2-5 inches, although the snowfall may end before the finish of Sunday night’s game.

The lastest snow trend map:

The wind might be a bigger factor. Gusty conditions have created difficult playing conditions during at least two games at Lambeau Field earlier in the season, including a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in November.

The Titans could be a difficult opponent in the elements, mostly due to the presence of 247-pound running back Derrick Henry, who leads the NFL in rushing. The Titans are second in rushing yards and third in yards per carry, creating a dominant run game that could thrive in the snow.

However, the Packers have won 21 of Aaron Rodgers’ 24 starts at Lambeau Field in December, including a pair of games this season (vs. Chicago, Philadelphia).

The snow and cold are common for late-season games in Green Bay. The Packers are the front runner for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, which would provide homefield advantage in the playoffs and at least home playoff game at Lambeau Field.

The Packers believe the snow and cold can be inherent advantages, although wintery conditions can neutralize passing games.
