Snoop Dogg launches marijuana brand 'Leafs By Snoop' in Colorado

Snoop Dogg has released his own branded marijuana line, Leafs by Snoop, which has gone on sale in Colorado.

The launch makes him the first A-list celebrity to hit the market with a full, self-branded line of commercialised cannabis.

The company will sell a range of products including marijuana flowers, concentrates and edibles, which include fair-trade chocolate bars and gummy sweets infused with activated cannabis oils.

According to a press release, the rapper personally selected all leafs and strains, judging them on aroma, taste, effect and ‘bud structure’.

“Leafs By Snoop embodies the California-cool lifestyle and has a variety of products available for every type of cannabis consumer,” says an advert announcing the products.

“Since I’ve been at the forefront of this movement for over 20 years now, I’m a master of marijuana,” Snoop said at the launch. “So naturally, my people can trust that I picked out the finest, freshest products in the game. Let’s medicate, elevate and put it in the air.”

Snoop Dogg is no stranger to the marijuana business, having launched a marijuana-themed media company, Merry Jane, earlier this year.

However, the rapper can’t actually legally own the brand, as he isn’t a Colorado resident.

Instead, the company Beyond Broadway, operating under LivWell, will have ‘official’ ownership, and will be responsible for growing the marijuana plants and manufacturing the products, according to the Cannabist.

Marijuana has now been legalise in 23 states (and Washington DC), but the majority of those have done so for ‘medicinal purposes’. Recreational marijuana is fully legal in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and the District of Columbia.
