Snooker star throws cue and lashes out at rival's toilet break in heated match

There was no love lost between snooker star Gary Wilson and his opponent Andres Petrov after their disagreement about the Estonian's need for toilet break.

Petrov, nicknamed the The Tallinn Lamborghini, provided a shock in the UK Snooker Championship qualifier knocking out Wilson 6-4. The English snooker star showed his dismay by throwing his cue as Petrov, who was 3-1 ahead in the match, missed a double on the pink only for it to bounce off the cushion and in for a fluky triple.

With Petrov continuing to dominate the match Wilson then took issue with the amount of toilet breaks his opponent was having.

After taking a 5-1 lead in the best of 11 frames match, Petrov walked off to the toilet after getting the permission from the referee to do so. Wilson approached the referee and remonstrated about his opponent's number of toilet breaks.

"He doesn't need the toilet!" said Wilson. "He has been the first frame, he has been the first frame after the interval and he just went there again now. He doesn't need the toilet."

Wilson did stage a fightback after his outburst but eventually fell to a 6-4 defeat. The video of Wilson's conversation with the referee was posted online with both players having their own views on the situation.

Accepting his play was not good enough in the match the Tyneside snooker star continued his accusation that Petrov was taking too many toilet breaks. He tweeted: "No excuses last night, bad conditions and bad run or not, you can’t be losing, the toilet thing just seems to be something nothing will ever be done about so let’s all just go every frame like some do."

Petrov, who is the first professional snooker player from his country, said he regularly has stomach issues during matches requiring him to have more toilet breaks. He replied: "What can be done when you have problems with your stomach during the match?

"Maybe you're more experienced and know better and I will not need to go to toilet three times during a four-hour match." He then continued with a second tweet which added: "It's just a normal thing happening to my stomach, I have to live with it. Not my fault the toilet was miles away from that exact table."
