Snapchat suffers major global outage with Irish users locked out of app

Snapchat is down for users across the globe.

Users have reported not being able to access the app or receive messages for the last several hours.

The first reports of a severe global outage occurred just before midday today.

Downdetector.ie has detected thousands of reports of users not being locked out of the app or unable to send messages.

75% of users are reporting that the app cannot be accessed.

23% are reporting problems with posting on the app, while just 3% are having issues with commenting.

Snapchat Support tweeted: "We’re aware that some Snapchatters are having issues using the app right now - hang tight, we’re looking into it!"

It's the latest social media platform to experience a serious outage after Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down for six hours, last week.

Facebook issued an apology and confirmed that the outage was caused by "configuration changes" and also said that there was "no evidence" of users data being compromised.
