DUMFRIES, the Scottish town of around 33,400 people, shares its name with a Dutch footballing star, a fact the media team at Real Madrid may not know.
Denzel Dumfries has today moved from Italian giants Inter Milan to the Spanish capital, being announced on social media through a tennis-inspired advert.
"Dumfries is here", the caption reads, below a video of fans turning their heads from left to right, a nod to the right-backs tendency to shoot up the pitch to support attacks.
This was quickly seized upon by the third-tier Scottish side, Queen of the South, based in Dumfries.
"No, it's not. It's here." their reply reads, prompting more than 300 retweets, reaching more than 200,000 people – about 24 times the capacity of the team's Palmerston Park stadium.
"Top level shithousery," one user on X/Twitter said, with others branding it as "incredible patter" and "brilliant".
The comment may have been more popular than Madrid's own announcement, which was criticised for its visuals which used artificial intelligence (AI), according to a disclaimer logo attached to the video.
The club is one of the largest, most popular and wealthiest in the world, with fans criticising the use of AI when it could afford to pay for a human-scripted and produced video.

"Who signed off on this," one user said, with another joking that the club had spent all of their revenue on new transfers, although Dumfries costed a relatively low, in footballing terms, sum of £17.1 million.
The story of how his name came to be shared with the Scottish town is, however, a product of Scotland's role in the slave trade.
The BBC interviewed Suzette Dumfries, a cousin of Denzel's father, Boris, who has been researching the family's lineage.
"To understand the name Dumfries, and to understand what Denzel carries when he steps on to the world stage, one has to understand the family history behind the name," she said.
"A name that carries slavery, freedom, migration, education, football, and the Caribbean's place in the wider world."
She explained that the name likely originates from a period of history when enslaved people were forced to take the names of their owner's family.
Suzette explained that from what she has been able to track, the family's history with the name Dumfries started in Suriname, which while controlled by The Netherlands was influenced strongly by Scottish slave-owners.
"Denzel's great-grandfather, Johannes Paulus Dumfries, born in 1874, was the first male born free in our lineage, which begins in Suriname," she said.
It was Denzel's grandfather - George Remus Dumfries - who moved from Suriname to Aruba in the 1940s.
While Denzel was born in The Netherlands, he remains a fan-favourite in Aruba.
"Today, the name Dumfries is not uncommon in Aruba," said Suzette.
"In fact, Aruba may well have the highest concentration of people with this specific surname anywhere in the world." She added that Arubans are "very proud" of the footballer
