Slimming World members help children have a cosy Christmas

Generous members of a slimming club have helped make sure children enjoy a cosy Christmas this year.

Slimming World consultant Jennifer McDade once again teamed up with Provost Lorraine Cameron on her Christmas appeal.

This year she asked for people to donate brand new children’s pyjamas to be given to youngsters on Christmas Eve, who might otherwise go without.

And they responded in their droves with more than 50 sets of boys and girls jammies handed over to Provost Cameron.

Jennifer said: “We supported the Provost’s appeal last year and were keen to do it again.

“I put it out to my members that if we all donate just one thing that would be amazing.

“As well as the appeal for children’s pyjamas, we also supported Susan Temple who collects toiletries for Turning Point and Women’s Aid and got a gret collection.

“Provost Lorraine Cameron came along to collect the pyjamas and we basically filled her car with everything we had! We supported her appeal last year and we hope to continue supporting it every year.

“The donations came from family and friends as well as all the Slimming Club members.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”

Jennifer runs the popular Houstoun Square Slimming World meetings on Saturday mornings at 9am and 10.30am. Between them, the classes have between 80 and 100 members.

Provost Cameron thanked everyone for their generous donations.

She said: “I have been overwhelmed with support for this appeal. The members of Slimming World in Johnstone have been so generous with their donations and their kindness means that children in Renfrewshire who would have otherwise gone without, will be wearing new pyjamas to welcome Santa!

“Jen and her members are always so giving at this time of the year and I want to thank them for their efforts.”
