Sleeping Beauty pantomime cancelled at Ayr Gaiety Theatre after heating breaks down

The iconic Gaiety Theatre became the latest victim of the cold snap gripping Ayrshire today.

Show bosses were forced to cancel tonight's performance of Sleeping Beauty in Ayr when the heating system inside the famous building broke down.

Taking to their Facebook page, they informed customers they had been left with no choice but to axe the evening performance as temperatures plummeted.

They said: "We're so, so sorry to announce that we've had to cancel this evening's performance of Sleeping Beauty at 6.30pm.

"Unfortunately Carabosse got loose in The Gaiety, and she's wreaked havoc on our heating system.

"With today's sub-zero temperatures, the theatre is simply too cold to allow us to welcome audiences without it.

"Our engineers are on their way, and we expect to be up and running again first thing tomorrow, with all shows for Thursday 15th planned to go ahead.

"Our box office team are in the process of contacting everyone with a booking for tonight, and we'll do absolutely everything we can to re-seat everyone at an alternate performance of their choice.

"We're so, so sorry for any disappointment caused by this unavoidable change to our programming. We'll keep everyone updated should there be any further changes.

"If you have a booking for tonight, please sit tight - we'll be in touch with you ASAP!"
