Slane Castle ready to rock as 75,000 fans set to arrive in Co Meath for Metallica gig

The Slane Castle stage is nearly ready to rock...and there’s plenty of heavy metal in there.

American legends Metallica will thrill more than 75,000 fans at the famous Co Meath venue on Saturday night.

As hundreds of workmen put the finishing touches to the site on Thursday, Gardai asked revellers to make proper travel plans to get into, and out of, the gig.

The sun came out by the banks of the River Boyne today - and the good news is that following early showers on Saturday, it’s expected to be dry by the time the Enter Sandman hitmakers take to the stage at 8pm.

Met Eireann said: “There’ll be widespread showers in the afternoon, on Saturday night the showers will retreat to western coasts and the rest of the country will have a dry night.”

For fans who don’t fancy getting soaked, Nothing Else Matters.
