Skinny Lister – Down on Deptford Broadway: exclusive album stream

Skinny Lister

Skinny Lister have held gigs in Land Rovers, sung while wing walking, toured in a narrow boat and stomped on restaurant tables, in hotel elevators and in car parks. Now comes the most exciting of all of their locational adventures: their album is available on the internet.

Stampeding through 12 tracks, the English folk and punk rock group’s latest album channels the riotous spirit of their beer-swilling live shows and includes tracks such as Cathy – “an ode to addiction and recklessness” – and Trouble on Oxford Street, a song which is either about the bloodthirsty perils of the Marks & Spencer underwear sale or may be just a good old-fashioned middle finger up at consumerist greed.

Taking its name from a short stretch of the A2 in south-east London, Down on Deptford Broadway is out 20 April on Xtra Mile Recordings, but you can sample the album ahead of its release in the player below. Let us know what you think of it.
