Skelton Lake Services is being used as a lockdown 'loophole' for people meeting up

Police officers have warned visitors to a Leeds motorway service station there is no "legal loophole" allowing them to meet.

West Yorkshire Police officers on horseback sent away a number of people from the Skelton Lake Services on the M62 yesterday (Saturday).

Officers will be at the services yet again today as they look to deter people from using the site as a meeting spot.

In a post on Facebook, West Yorkshire Police - Leeds East, said: "Can I just remind people that Skelton Lake services is not a place where groups can meet up.

"There is no "LOOP HOLE" that people can use. Yesterday our mounted police team were there enforcing the Covid rules. Several people were dealt with.

"We have stopped large and small groups who seem to think the services are ok to meet, this is NOT the case."
