Skate 4: Gain Extra Speed With This Glitch

Glitches are a core part of the skate franchise. Skate 4 also has its fair share of glitches, like the pre-season 1 launch glitch. If you have played Skate 3, you might also be aware of the classic speed glitch. The new skate game also has a speed glitch, and this article will guide you on how to do it.

Glitches are all about timing and weird animation cancels. Nail the timing, and you can pick up insane speed. Whether you want to travel faster across San Vansterdam or simply learn for the fun of it, I’ve got you covered.

So, dive in with me as I walk you through how the glitch works and how you can utilize it.

What Is The Speed Glitch?

The Spread Eagle speed glitch involves using the pose midair and then looping right back into it before getting back on the board. If you time it right, you outright cancel the landing animation with a quick remount, leaving you with all but speed.

That extra speed? It shoots a burst of momentum, gaining more and more with each loop forward. Some content creators and rippers who’ve mastered it just chain the move over and over, zipping across the map like a flight.

You have to keep repeating the glitch to gain speed. It’s not like Skate 3, where you just launch off after doing the glitch once.

How To Do The Speed Glitch

Glitches aren’t usually reliable at times and may even be patched in the future. More so, it can take multiple attempts before you get it right the first time. So, bear that in mind and keep yourself updated with the community.

Gain A Little Momentum

Find a down terrain or slope and roll down to build up speed.  2 to 3 pushes are enough.

Hop Off The Board By Doing A Hippy Jump

Hold X and Square on PlayStation or A and B on Xbox to pop off the board. Keep holding your left stick forward, and position your index finger on RB (Xbox) or R1 (PlayStation).

Get Into The Spread Eagle Pose

Right near the peak of the jump, hold down RB and A on Xbox, R1 and X on PlayStation.

Note: Only start the Spread Eagle pose while you’re off the board (after the Hippy Jump). If you do it on the board, you’ll end up with a “no foot air” instead.

Jump Back On Right Before Touchdown

This is the tricky part. Let go of X on Xbox and Square on PlayStation, and right near the peak of the jump, press the get on board button (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox).

If the timing is right, you’ll disrupt the landing animation and get a speed boost. The earlier you do it, the better, but only when you’re in the jump.

Hold The Loop

Once you’re back on the board, keep leaning forward into the flow and repeat the cycle. Hop off, hit the pose, then loop it right before landing. Chain it back to back until you’ve reached the speed you chase. There are no limits.

Speed Glitch Inputs

Be precise and stick to perfecting the timing. To sum it up, here’s how the glitch works:

  • PlayStation: Hold X and Square -> Hold R1 and X-> Release Square -> Press Triangle -> Repeat
  • Xbox: Hold A and B -> Hold RB and A -> Release B -> Press Y -> Repeat
