Six young girls die in horror crash after being thrown from flipped vehicle

Six young girls tragically died in a horror smash on Sunday after being thrown from a crashing vehicle. According to emergency services, the Toyota Camry vehicle swerved off the road in Tennessee, US, and struck a barrier before flipping over and causing the kids to be ejected from the car.

The youngsters were sadly declared dead at the scene after they were unable to be resuscitated, while a woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital. A man in the vehicle was taken to a different hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries, the Mirror reports

Brent Dyer, chief of the county's emergency management services officers, confirmed that the victims were all aged between one and 18 years old. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said it would be investigating what led to the fatal crash which happened near exit 24 on 1-24 West in Robertson County.

A Robertson County Emergency Medical Services statement read: “A total of four Advanced Life Support ambulances responded to this scene and one helicopter/air ambulance. Initial arriving units worked quickly to search for, assess and triage the total nine patients involved. Only one other vehicle was involved.

"The vehicle was a car that was found upside down with very extensive damage. Another adult male was ambulatory on the scene and reported to responders that he had been in this car. This man was stable with what appeared to be minor injuries at that time.”

Officials said a damaged pick up truck was also discovered at the scene but have not disclosed whether or not it was involved in the crash. They confirmed that the car had collided with a concrete barrier underneath a bridge and finally came to a halt half a mile down the road from the scene of the crash.

Robertson County Emergency Medical Services said it was ensuring that those who attended the scene were provided with mental health support. A spokesperson said: “Our office recognises the incredible difficulty of this scene.

"Further coordination to involve professional mental health and counselling services for responders has been established. Please keep the families and persons involved in your thoughts and prayers.”
