Six players tipped to sign for Arsenal in January including Declan Rice and Ferran Torres

Arsenal are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window. However, with Mikel Arteta's side currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League they are only expected to make signings in essential positions.

At present, it appears that a midfielder could be the main priority, with the current reliance on Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Both have been performing well, but an injury to either would leave the Gunners' lack of midfield depth exposed during a crucial title run in.

In addition, a left-winger could be targeted, with the well publicised pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk ending after the Ukraine international joined Chelsea. However, the return of Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah's impressive performances in Gabriel Jesus' absence could mean that reinforcements in attacking areas may not be as much of a priority as it once appeared.

There are some big names linked with a potential transfer to Arsenal this month and here we take a look at who the bookies are tipping to join the Gunners.

All odds via Sky Bet

Declan Rice - 4/1

Amid West Ham's struggles this season, Rice could become the first big name to leave the London Stadium, with Arsenal backed as 4/1 favourites to secure a deal to sign the England midfielder.

The 23-year-old was one of the outstanding defensive midfielders at the World Cup and would bring top quality to the Gunners' midfield.

Liverpool and Chelsea are both predicted to provide competition for his transfer, but with Arsenal's current position at the top of the league it could be north London for the Kingston born player.

Ferran Torres - 4/1

With the same odds as Rice, Torres has yet to break through to become Xavi's first choice left winger at the Nou Camp since he joined from Manchester City last January.

Th Spain international is still just 22 years old and at the same age as Mudryk he could prove to be a more than adequate alternative to the Ukrainian.

His 35 caps and 15 goals for Spain at such a young age demonstrate his quality and Arsenal are clear favourites to seal a deal at 4/1, with AC Milan second with odds of 10/1.

Leandro Trossard - 5/1

The Belgian winger is another alternative to Mudryk, with seven goals in 16 Premier League matches this season showing his quality on the left wing.

Arsenal are expected to be challenged by Tottenham and Newcastle for his signature, but at the age of 28 there may be more suitable options out there.

Raphinha - 4/1

Another player who has struggled to become first choice at Barcelona this season, the Brazilian has been linked with a move to north London amid their search for a winger and their interest in the then Leeds player last summer.

However, the right sided midfielder may not wish to challenge with the in-form Bukayo Saka and talk of a transfer could be little more than speculation.

Wilfried Zaha - 8/1

The Crystal Palace winger has been in great form this season and could be set for a move away from south London in the coming months with his contract expiring in the summer.

The Ivory Coast international can operate on the left wing and would be a cut price option, however, at 30 years old he may not align with Arsenal's current transfer strategy.

Youri Tielemans - 5/1

A reported long-term target for the Gunners, the Belgian midfielder also sees his contract expiring this season and could be a bargain this month to provide depth for the title run-in.

However, with Rice also being linked with a move, he could be targeted due to his age profile as well as his ability to operate in a more defensive role.
