Six men arrested after Stapleton Road attack in middle of afternoon

Half a dozen men have been arrested following an attack in Bristol which saw a person rushed to hospital.

Emergency services attended Stapleton Road in Easton at around 2.10pm yesterday (October 22) following reports of an assault.

Police have now clarified that a total of six men were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

In a statement yesterday, the police said one man and one woman had been arrested, but today a spokesman explained that a woman was not in fact in custody.

The six men are still being questioned, with no charges having been made.

The attack, which left a person with head and neck injuries, happened near Stapleton Road’s junction with Robert Street.

The route was partially blocked while crews helped the victim, with a diversion in place for a number of bus services.

A police spokesman said yesterday’s inaccurate statement was the result of an error in the log.
