SIX people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the M8 on Saturday morning.

The incident, which occurred at around 2am on Saturday morning, involved an HGV (heavy goods vehicle) and a Mercedes Vito mini van.

All six injuries were in the mini van, which includes three children. The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

The M8 was closed near to the Chapelhall junction and reopened at around 7.30am.

Sergeant Elaine Scott said: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road re-opened around 7.30am, same date. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious crash.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0420 of Saturday, 11 July, 2026.”
