Six die in 'shootout linked to warring families' in Saudi Arabia

Six people have been killed and more injured after a reported shootout between two warring families in Saudi Arabia.

A deadly brawl broke out in the al-Amuwa region of the southwestern Asir province - near the country's border with Yemen - on Tuesday.

It was sparked by a dispute, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Zayed al-Dabbash announced. Local media reported that the shooting involved two duelling families, though the cause of their dispute was unclear.

The Lieutenant Colonel confirmed six people died and three were left injured, while state-run Saudi Press Agency reported that all the fatalities were Saudi citizens.

He said police seized weapons used in the crime and that prosecutors were investigating.

Mass shootings are rare in the kingdom. Officials have given no indication the incident was terror-related.
