Single lane closure of A77 from Monday for essential embankment and barrier works

A single lane closure of the A77 will be in place from Monday for up to four weeks for new embankment and barrier works.

Essential maintenance on the A77 at Altimeg Bridge, which carries the A77 trunk road across the Water of App, will run continuously, 24 hours per day, from Monday, September 6 until Friday, October 1.

The scheme will see the reinstatement of embankments to protect structural foundations and ensure a solid foundation for a vehicle restraint system protection barrier.

The new barrier shall be compliant with modern safety standards and will provide the appropriate level of containment.

The work will be carried out using a single lane closure of the A77 at this location with a temporary traffic light system put in place.

The works, carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the network management contract for the south-west trunk road unit, are approximately one kilometre south of the ongoing works at A77 Carlock Wall.

However, traffic management shall only be a short lane closure which shall have very little impact on through traffic.

It is not envisaged the traffic management system will have any impact on the works at Carlock Wall.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.

Road users are thanked for their patience while these essential improvements are underway.
