Simple hack to remove oil from driveways using £1 staple household ingredient

Fans of the cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have revealed the "best" way to remove any oil stains on your concrete driveway or patio, and it only costs £1.

Not only are these stains an eyesore, but they can be really difficult to remove if it's not done in time. The ideal solution is to try and soak it up while it's still wet, but if it's been there for a while, you might be struggling to get the driveway looking clean again.

Thankfully, the Express reports that cleaning fans on social media have been sharing their top tips, with one idea in particular being extremely popular.

Posting on the Mrs Hinch Facebook group, one exasperated fan was looking for advice on how to remove the stubborn stains from outside her front door.

She said: "Anyone got any tips for removing oil from a drive?"

The post was soon flooded with comments from people who had been in her situation, with many people thanking one household product for getting rid of the marks.

One said: "Baby talc works by drying the oil up. Just sprinkle over and leave it for a day or two then brush it away - it really works."

Another commented: "Baby powder for a few hours. Let it dry up and then use washing up liquid."

Other solutions included making up a mixture of washing up liquid and boiling water, and scrubbing the oil stains with a brush.

Cat litter was another surprising fix, with one person recommending to sprinkle it on the marks and then power washing to remove it.

Talc or baby powder is a popular household staple that can be found in most homes.

However, for those who don’t have talc or baby powder, it can be found in most local supermarkets or online.

It's available from Tesco for just £1, Asda for £1.50 and Sainsbury's for £1.60.
