Sikandar box office collection Day 8: Salman Khan starrer crosses Rs 100 crore mark after second weekend

Salman Khan’s latest action-drama Sikandar has officially crossed the coveted Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. The film hit the milestone at the end of its second weekend.

According to a report on trade site Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 4.50 crore (India net) on its eighth day across all languages, showing a slight uptick in performance as it closed its second weekend. Sikandar, which was released on March 30, opened strong with a reported Rs 26 crore on its first day. Its highest single-day collection came on the Eid holiday, peaking at around Rs 29 crore. However, following the festive boost, the film experienced a significant drop in its daily earnings.

Sikandar concluded its first week with an estimated total of Rs 90.25 crore. It must be noted that while most films begin their box office weekend on a Friday, Salman and team Sikandar began their's on a Sunday, thus losing out on 2 days of business.

The second weekend saw a modest revival, starting with Rs 3.5 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 4 crore on Saturday. On Sunday, the film added approximately Rs 4.5 crore to its total, bringing the second-weekend earnings to around Rs 12 crore.

With this, the film's cumulative domestic net collection now stands at approximately Rs 102.25 crore.

According to the film's production house, Sikandar is on its way to hit the Rs 200 crore mark. The makers said in a post on Sunday that the film had already earned a gross total of Rs 187.84 crore from both domestic and international markets.

Prior to the film's release, Salman predicted the box office journey. Sharing his thoughts on audience support and expectations, he said at a press meet, “Festive, non-festive... it's the love of the people. Picture achhi ho ya buri, 100 crore to paar karva hi denge (Whether the film is good or bad, the audience will make sure it crosses Rs 100 crore).”

When a coordinator pointed out that Rs 100 crore is no longer the benchmark for his films, suggesting the new standard is Rs 200 crore, Salman laughed and responded, “Haan, 200, 200. 100 bahot pehle ki baat hai (Yes, Rs 200 crore. Rs 100 crore is a thing of the past).”

While Sikandar crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, it has reportedly underperformed at the box office. It is also one of Salman's lowest-performing new releases.
