'Sign Mudryk!' - Arsenal tipped to complete £43m masterstroke for Jack Grealish alternative

The mere suggestion of a potential Jack Grealish to Arsenal transfer is always enough to garner a massive response from supporters on social media.

Once upon a time - specifically in between the winter and summer transfer windows in 2021 when the north London outfit were in the market for a creative midfielder - it emerged that the then-Aston Villa captain and playmaker was a dream signing for many Gunners fans.

This theory was simply based on a response to a poll conducted by football.london as we asked Arsenal supporters on Twitter who they thought deserved to inherit the iconic No.10 shirt which became vacant after Mesut Ozil had sealed his free transfer to Fenerbahce.

The options included Alexandre Lacazette, former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and and Emile Smith Rowe - which the latter won by a landslide with 51.4% of the vote - but at one stage Grealish was leading in a clear message to Mikel Arteta and Edu that he'd be the perfect signing for Arsenal.

Of course, as things have since panned out it was Manchester City who were able to land Grealish shortly after the Euro 2020 final as they made him the most expensive signing in Premier League history by splashing out £100million to lure him away from boyhood club Aston Villa.

Although, the 27-year-old is the first to admit he's not been at his best during his time at the Etihad Stadium: "I think I deal with pressure well, but I do feel like I can start playing a lot better," he said at a press conference ahead of England's Nations League double-header against Italy and Germany.

"I probably haven't been playing at the top of my game since I've moved to City, but I think I've shown glimpses of it and over the next two months especially, I'm just going to try to get my head down as much as I can, work so hard and hopefully good things will happen."

Grealish's comments have surfaced during a time when reports claim he is expecting to leave Man City next summer and has even instructed his agent to find a new club for him to join.

Whilst there are pros for Arsenal swooping for the midfielder if he is made available for a transfer at the end of the season, it would appear that some supporters have already soured on the idea of Grealish linking up with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe at club level.

On Twitter, @ArsenalFC_fl asked the burning question: "Jack Grealish to Arsenal, who says no?" and it was interesting to note that many of the responses included Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk as the perfect alternative despite a £13million increase on his £30million asking price from the summer.

@Play_Boy291 said: "Noooooooooooo .... Mudryk please", to which @Murt300 agreed with: "Nope! We go for Mudryk", @Batman___21 had a rather interesting suggestion: "I would take Asensio to Arsenal over taking Grealish", meanwhile @RGG_Tech listed reasons for not wanting Grealish: "Aim bigger. Sign Mudryk. Grealish been at a small & big PL club now & showed he can only shine in a small team."
