Siege in Wallaroo 'resolved safely' as SA police discover no one inside the home

Police have converged on a Wallaroo property.

Police say a siege in the Yorke Peninsula town of Wallaroo in South Australia has been "resolved safely" after no one was found inside the house.

Police believed a man wanted for serious offences was holed up in a house on East Terrace in Wallaroo.

Nearby streets were cordoned off with residents asked to stay indoors as Special Tasks and Rescue (STAR) Group officers surrounded the property.

After about nine hours, STAR Group officers entered the house but there was no one inside.

East Terrace between Daly Street and Smith Street, as well as Prince Street, were closed and police asked members of the public to avoid the area.

They have also advised people who live in the area to stay indoors while emergency services are at the scene.

The incident follows a police siege in Wallaroo last month when police locked down parts of the town in search of Jake Dohnt, who had allegedly aimed a gun at police.

Dohnt led police on a two-day manhunt and was arrested on Port Wakefield Road the following day after more than 40 hours on the run.
