I’ve always liked SIDI boots. They feel like slippers straight out of the box – those shearling-lined moccasins your uncle wears around the house—at least that’s what my experience has been. So when I heard that SIDI had unveiled a new adventure-touring boot, the Taurus GTX, I was curious what would be available for round-the-world travelers looking for all-weather protection in mixed terrain.
What I didn’t expect was the design.
The new Taurus GTX doesn’t look like a typical ADV boot, which are often just softened and more subtle motocross offerings – think brown leather and black plastics instead of bright purple and shiny silver fasteners. That said, the Taurus GTX is apparently inspired by SIDI’s original motocross line… but looks can be deceiving. What I see is not a throwback to the OG days of off-road riding and racing, but a fresh take on the ADV boot business.
It is giving Master Chief, and I’m okay with that.

The boot features a microfiber upper, reinforced with high-density TPU in areas where impacts are most likely to occur. There’s also a GORE-TEX membrane, which provides both waterproofing and breathability. A three‑point flexible ankle support system is intended to stabilize the joint during off-road rides, while also still allowing for natural movement. SIDI has also integrated an active ankle support system to help prevent hyperextension.
Fitment is adjusted thanks to a pair of NUUN 001M dials, which work a lot like the BOA Fit System you’ll find on other footwear. These dials allow for quick, one‑handed adjustments, giving riders the ability to distribute pressure evenly across the top of the foot, and fine‑tune the fit throughout the day, as conditions and comfort requirements change.
The Taurus GTX utilizes SIDI’s Materiis rubber soles, designed to provide plenty of traction on the pegs, as well as when you’re pushing your ADV machine through the mud or over loose terrain. The flap-over panel at the top of the boots allows for riders of all calf sizes easy entry into the boot, and the Velcro means you can get in and out of the Taurus GTX quickly and easily.
So, while I don’t necessarily see much of SIDI’s motocross heritage in the design of this new boot, what I do see is some top-of-the-line adventure-touring footwear for riders who are looking for a waterproof boot that will be comfortable all day, and provide ample protection when riding off-road, supplanting the need for a full-on motocross setup.
The Taurus GTX is available in three colorways - Black, Sand Ochre, and Deep Forest – and carries an MSRP of $599.99 with a one‑year warranty in the U.S.
