Shubhankar Sharma makes cut at British Masters, Tyrrell Hatton leads

India's Shubhankar Sharma successfully made it to the weekend rounds at the British Masters after finishing Day 2 with an even-par 72, despite a closing bogey.

Sharma, a two-time winner on the DP World Tour, recorded scores of 71 and 72 in the first two rounds, placing him at 1-under and tied-37th after 36 holes. Fellow Indian golfer Om Prakash, unfortunately, missed the cut following a challenging second round where he shot an 83.

Sharma, who finished T-14 in Denmark the previous week, will compete in the third round alongside Jeff Winther and Richie Ramsay. Leading the tournament is England's Tyrrell Hatton, who holds a one-shot advantage after a second-round performance of seven under par 65, following his initial 69.

In close pursuit of Hatton are Jorge Campillo from Spain, Frenchman Jeong Weon Ko, and South Africa's Brandon Stone. Stone posted an impressive round of 64, placing him one shot off the lead at nine-under.

Stone, who started in the afternoon, delivered the day's lowest round, with his 64 featuring nine birdies, including seven over eight holes around the turn, alongside a single bogey.

Frenchman Tom Vaillant and Denmark's Niklas Nørgaard are tied for fifth place at eight-under par, while South Africa's Thriston Lawrence sits seventh at seven under.

Sharma's steady performance across the two rounds keeps him in contention as the tournament progresses into the weekend. The leaderboard's close competition ensures an exciting continuation of the British Masters.
