Shrewsbury vs Sunderland confirmed team news as Lee Johnson makes two changes at the New Meadow

Lee Johnson has made two changes to the side that started the weekend win against Ipswich Town on Wearside.

Aiden O'Brien came into the side in place of Elliot Embleton, while Alex Pritchard replaced Corry Evans.

There were a range of possibilities open to Johnson in terms of shape but, judging by Sunderland's warm-up routines, Lynden Gooch looked set to play right-back with Luke O'Nien on the opposite side.

With Gooch at right-back, that would release Carl Winchester to move into central midfield alongside Dan Neil.

Pritchard played wide on the left with O'Brien on the right, and Nathan Broadhead played up front alongside Ross Stewart.

Shrewsbury boss Steve Cotterill - who spent a spell at Sunderland as assistant to Howard Wilkinson in 2002-03 - also made two changes, in his case to the side that lost at Cheltenham on Saturday.

Tom Bloxham and Rekeil Pyke came into the side in place of the injured Ethan Ebanks-Landell, and the suspended Elliott Bennett.
