Texas is gaining significant importance during the current election process, serving as a stage where President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump express their antagonistic stances on immigration.

With that debate in the background, this Thursday (Feb. 28), Biden and Trump will visit different spots on the Texas-Mexico border.

President Biden will hold meetings with law enforcement officials in Brownsville, neighboring the Mexican city of Matamoros (state of Tamaulipas). Meanwhile, former President Trump will visit Eagle Pass, a neighbor of Piedras Negras (Coahuila).

The visit of both aspirants to win the presidential election in November of this year takes place within the framework of the primary elections of their parties, to be held next March 5.

Biden, who is seeking re-election and has Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate, will meet with Border Patrol and law enforcement officials in Brownsville.

Meanwhile, Texas GOP members are anticipating several events from Trump. The former president from 2017 to 2021 is expected in Eagle Pass, a city that has been at the center of the debate on immigration policies. This debate involves both the federal government and the state government, led by Greg Abbott.

In this city, Abbott, who has openly given his support to Trump, the Texan government plans the construction of a $500 million military base to house National Guard troops.

During his visit, Biden is expected to promote the approval of a package of measures to strengthen border security. This package, pushed by a group of senators, includes support for Ukraine and Israel, as well as funds for the Border Patrol.

In a message sent to the media by the Trump campaign, the former president said his visit to Texas forced Biden's agenda-maker to engineer an attempt to "chase" him to the border "not to solve the problem, but because they know Biden is losing terribly".
