Shoppers met with police cordon as woman injured in electric scooter crash

Shoppers were met with a police cordon in Liverpool city centre after a woman was knocked off an electric scooter.

Emergency services were called to London Road in Liverpool city centre at around 10.30am on Thursday, December 1. Merseyside police confirmed a woman suffered a head injury in a collision involving an electric scooter and a car.

A police cordon was set up on the road, near the junction of Audley Street and neighbouring market stalls. One woman told the ECHO that she "had seen a girl come off a scooter" but had not seen the collision.

Shops remained open as police moved the scooter out of the cordon and a black KIA Picanto to the side of the road. Shoppers leaving TJ Hughes were visibly shocked to see the cordon in place, with one man asking what had happened.

The black KIA Picanto was recovered from the scene after the cordon was taken down. The vehicle appeared to have damage to its front windscreen.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we are currently in attendance at a road traffic collision on London Road, in Liverpool. At around 10.30am on Thursday, December 1, we received a report that a woman using an electric scooter had been involved in a collision with a car.

"The woman suffered head and leg injuries. The driver stopped at the scene. Emergency services are currently at the scene and will remain until the incident is dealt with."
