Residents are saddened by the news that their nearest convenience store, Sainsbury's Local, is set to close down.
The shop, in Blenheim Drive , Chilwell, will cease trading in May.
Shoppers are disappointed that after many years they're going to lost the handy store, leaving them with just the Co-op in Bramcote Lane.
Emma Jenkins, who lives nearby, said: "It’s a well-used local store and the residents of Chilwell are very sad that it will be closing.
"Sainsbury’s is much cheaper, it’s a better store all round, the staff are very friendly and it really has a family feel in store.
"We have quite a lot of elderly nearby so it will be a huge loss to them."
Another regular user Wendy Kane said she was saddened to see it go.
"I'm gutted. I live round the corner so I use it a lot - it's so handy. A little corner shop is an important part of the local community.
"The staff there are so lovely. It's very sad for all the people who live that side of Chilwell and it's very sad for the staff. I don't know what will happen to their jobs - whether they will be found positions elsewhere.
"I don't like the Co-op - it's more expensive. "
Sainsbury's said a decision to close a store was never taken lightly and was based on a range of factors.
It plans to bring down costs by £500million over the next five years.
A spokesperson said: "Our Chilwell Local will close on May 29. We understand this will be an unsettling time for those affected and we’re supporting them in any way we can. We hope to welcome customers to our other nearby stores, including Beeston supermarket and Wollaton Bramcote Lane Local.”
They added they would not disclose how many staff were affected.
The latest announcement follows closures of Sainsbury's Local shops in Eastwood, Nuthall and Ruddington.
