Shop Well for Less family save whopping £6,300 following simple steps

Shop Well for Less is back with new presenters, including Gavin and Stacey's Joanna Page, who helps a family of six save a massive £6,300.

Steve and Bally Katnoria and their four daughters are big spenders when it comes to fashion and beauty with Mum Bally alone spending £950 a year on getting her nails done.

The family from Kent also had 41 clothing items still with tags on, costing them £550 and had spent £2,200 on makeup.

This alongside their need to buy five new outfits each for every wedding they attend meant their hall renovation project had been put on hold, leaving them with exposed brickwork and un-even floors.

Joanna and co-host Melanie Sykes swooped to help the family by providing nail kits for Bally to do at home, limiting Bally and two of her daughters to just ten items of clothing, shoes and accessorises for a week to make them appreciate what they already have in their wardrobes and highlighting to the whole family just how many wedding outfits they already own.

Perfumes and aftershaves were swapped for ones that cost just five pounds, saving Dad Steve £47.00 and their daughter £52.00 and branded tracksuits swapped for more affordable options.

After totting up all of Joanna's and Melanie's swaps, savings, tips and tricks the family saved a huge £6,300 which was more than enough to finish renovating their hall.

Shop Well for Less will air Thursday, August 12, at 8pm on BBC One.
