Disturbing videos have emerged of youths fighting with machetes outside a Starbucks on an east London high street, as police arrest two boys aged 15 and 16.
One thug, dressed in all-black clothing, is armed with two long blades.
But he is ambushed from behind by another youth who attempts to strike him on the back of the head with a machete, but slips and falls to the ground.
As women and girls scream, he gets back up on his feet and - with an accomplice - chases their intended target down Kingsland High Street, Dalston.
The incident happened on Wednesday evening and involved at least six individuals.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 6pm on Wednesday, October 15 to reports of an altercation on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, Hackney.
“Officers attended and arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of affray, as well as a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
“Both remain in custody.
“Nobody was injured in the incident.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Bystanders react when one of the knife-wielding attacker’s weapon is knocked out of his hand and lands on the pavement near the coffee shop and branches of the Popeyes and Wingstop restaurants.
One male witness said: “F*** me! He’s dropping his Sami (samurai sword).”
Motorists and moped riders sound their horns during the melee before the rival gangs run away.
