Shocking moment thug drags OAP to ground and breaks her arm after grabbing bag

This is the shocking moment a pensioner was dragged to the ground by a mugger who grabbed hold of her handbag, leaving her with a broken arm.

CCTV footage of the horrific attack was released by cops in a bid to identify the heartless thug.

The 79-year-old victim had her bag stolen by the yob at St Theresa’s Close in Kettering between 3.20pm and 3.50pm on Sunday.

The clip shows the woman walking along the street as her attacker runs towards her from across the road.

He grabs her bag from her right hand but as she holds on, she is spun around and pulled down to the ground as the thug pries it from her hand.

She then kneels up and looks on as he makes off down the street.

A police spokesman said: "Many people will be shocked by the CCTV footage we have released today and rightly so.

"This lady, like everyone else, should be able to go about her business and feel safe. Her attacker has taken that feeling of safety away from her and it is imperative that he is identified and brought to justice.

"If anyone recognises the man in the CCTV footage, please call us on 101, or please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you wish to report your information anonymously."

Two 31-year-old men arrested in connection with the offence have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
