People at a South Dublin apartment complex were left frightened when a "viable bomb" threat was reported to Gardai.
Several residents at Brookview Rise in Tallaght were forced to evacuate the building in the early hours of Sunday morning.
They were alerted of the 'bomb scare' shortly after midnight, Dublin Live reports.
Gardai knocked on the door to make residents aware of the warning and in a little over 15 minutes, a large chunk of the complex had been evacuated.
An item, wrapped in what is believed to be duct tape, was discovered.
An eye witness said that the whole ordeal was extremely frightening.
They said: "It happened just after midnight and we were out on the street until 3am.
"We were told that it was a viable bomb threat and that a device was thrown through the apartment window.
"The bomb disposal unit came, made it safe and took it away. The window of the house is boarded up now."
The witness described the sheer horror of the incident saying that the capital is becoming more scary each day.
"The first we knew about it was when the gardai started knocking at the door giving us a warning that we’d be evacuated.
"Then, about 15 minutes later we were evacuated from the building and before we knew it, they had the road closed off."
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Tallaght Dublin 24 are investigating an incident which occurred at a house at Brookview Rise, Tallaght at approximately 00.10hrs this morning, Sunday 24 March 2019.
"The occupier of the house reported a front window of the house being smashed, an item was discovered wrapped in what is believed to be duct tape.
"Gardaí called for the assistance of the Defence Forces EOD team (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) who carried out a controlled explosion.
"A number of houses were evacuated during the incident. The item has been removed for further investigations.
They concluded: "No injuries were sustained and no damage caused."
