Shkodran Mustafi teases Arsenal transfer decision with cryptic Instagram hint

Arsenal missed out on the top four and lost the Europa League final last season.

Therefore, it will be three years in a row without Champions League football and that's set to impact Unai Emery's transfer budget this summer with reports claiming he has between £40m-£45m to spend on bolstering his squad.

The Spaniard could raise funds by selling players he deems surplus to requirements.

Football.london understands the Gunners are expected to entertain offers for Calum Chambers following an impressive loan spell at Fulham and with a contract until 2022, is among the relatively few players in Emery's squad whose sale would significantly improve their transfer budget.

Furthermore, Shkodran Mustafi is also available for a transfer but as of yet no clubs have expressed an interest.

But the German defender might have hinted at some activity.

As spotted by supporters on Twitter, Mustafi has removed his Arsenal profile picture and removed “Player for Arsenal” from his Instagram bio.

This comes just a couple of days after he and many of the Gunners first-team squad reported back to London Colney for pre-season training.

However, the World Cup winner did say in May that he had no plans to depart the Emirates Stadium anytime soon despite the ongoing speculation regarding his future.

"It is odd that there are always transfer speculations," Mustafi told German publication Kicker. "I am an Arsenal player and have a contract until 2021."

But has his stance changed?

Well, judging by the response from some supporters on Twitter, they are hoping so.

Take a look at what's been said about Mustafi's cryptic social media hint...
