For me the book wasn't overly inspiring. Yes, it was entertaining but it lacked in ability to make me, as a reader, connect with the main characters therefore I was unable to empathise with them which in my opinion decreased the enjoyment.
The plot/story-line was fascinating and captivating and the potential for a great book was there but I feel the overall execution was not done as best as it could have been. I feel that if Aidan Flood's (the main character) emotions were more detailed, it would have be easier to see things more clearly from his perspective which I believe is important especially in a 1st person book.
My favourite part of the book would have to be the final chapter. I was certainly satisfied with this as the climax at the end was in no way disappointing with the double jaw dropping plot twist and the fact that I was undoubtedly rooting for him for the first time and not to put in a spoiler but the reference at the end of the book to the title was marvellous.
