Shed-sized beach hut goes on the market for £200,000

Everybody loves a sea view. But would you pay the cost of a three-bed semi in the Valleys for a small wooden beach hut with no water, drainage, or electricity?

Because that's how much just such a property has gone on the market for in north Wales with the compact and bijou piece of maritime real estate having just been put on the market for a whopping £200,000.

Located on the Abersoch coast in Gwynedd, if sold it'll become the most expensive hut on the resort's Porth Mawr beach, reports NorthWalesLive. Billed by local agents Elvins as a "rare opportunity," it comes with its own private deck which looks out across the Bay to St Tudwals Islands.

Aside from that though it's very much a no-frills-type of purchase with zero amenities on offer inside other than the promise of "ample storage" and the beach cafe and local yacht club being a short walk away. Although it won't be the first time one of the huts on that strip of sand has been flogged for a staggering amount as one very close by went up for sale last September with a guide price of £175,000 – although it's not known exactly how much it finally sold for.

That means the official record price for such a property still stands at £160,000, which one brightly-painted tin shack on Porth Mawr fetched back in 2017. And while the area remains one of the most desirable staycation destinations in Wales, attracting many a well-heeled visitor, not everyone was convinced by the asking price.

One person on Twitter wondered if the hut came with a "parking space for the Lamborghini" while another inquired as to whether Waitrose made deliveries there.
