Shea and Syd McGee's festive front porch provides a warm winter welcome – this is how to recreate the chic look

Syd and Shea McGee.

It will come as no surprise that husband and wife design duo, Syd and Shea McGee, have a beautiful display of Christmas decor at their home, with their festive front porch creating a truly stand-out display.

For their chic outdoor Christmas decor, the Dream Home Makeover stars have used a beautiful blend of contemporary lighting and classic foliage, creating a simple, yet incredibly sophisticated look for Christmas porch decor that reflects the elegant style of Studio McGee and McGee and Co.

Shea says about the design, 'Our Christmas front door decor is the starting point of welcoming guests and loved ones into our home to celebrate the festive season. With that in mind, we never like to exclude the exterior of our home from our holiday-centric décor. Carrying your holiday design to the front door not only greets you and your guests from the get-go, but it brings the spirit of the season to the entire block.'

A classic Christmas wreath adorns their black front door, with the light-up faux foliage working as a more modern Christmas garland idea – we love how this placement of the foliage enhances the elegant arched shape of the door.

Garlands of a slightly different style add cozy light, natural texture and a wonderful sense of movement to the tall front porch pillars – if you want to recreate the look on your porch but don't have pillars of this style, garlands wrapped around any porch railings will always create a magnificent effect.

Two festive trees then frame the front door with stylish symmetry, 'All doors are different but if you have room on both sides, it’s always a good design trick to flank the door with similar objects. Keep it simple and stick to evergreens for a traditional holiday feel that works well with any exterior color scheme or architectural style,' says Shea.

The design then extends beyond the front porch, with large bulb lights hanging on the porch roof (excellent DIY skills shown by Syd). And if it couldn't get any more Christmassy, real snow covers their front yard – it really is a picture-perfect wintery scene.

Studio McGee not only has their own collection of holiday decor on McGee & Co. (it is nearly all sold out, but there are still some great discounts on the remaining products), they have also collaborated with Target to create a stylish collection of Threshold designed w/Studio McGee decor – we round-up our favorites pieces in our dedicated feature, Studio McGee’s Holiday collection has just dropped at Target.
