'She's just bitter': Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll hits back at Karren Brady

Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has hit back at Karren Brady after the West Ham vice-chairman questioned his commitment to the Hammers.

The Geordie frontman spent seven seasons at West Ham, but a spate of injuries meant he was only able to make 118 appearances before being released in the summer.

Months after he completed his dream return to United on a free transfer, Brady launched a savage attack on the striker in a newspaper column, labelling him as a "behemoth from ages past".

The vice-chairman also criticised Carroll for using a "glossary of reasons" for not appearing on the pitch for the Hammers, including going to funerals for his grandmothers "quite regularly".

Speaking to the MailOnline , Carroll branded the accusations as "ridiculous" and insisted he is not bothered by her claims, describing her as "bitter".

The former Newcastle United number nine said: "Ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

"Some of the things I could say about her… It's madness. I've spoken to her about five times.

'But that's Karren Brady. I'm not bothered what she says. We beat them then she says that.

"She never said that in the seven years I was there. She's just bitter. Let her get on with it."
